Text Messaging: Samsung SGH-T609 cell phone.?

When I reach the max I have to dump the old texts. How do I get my incoming texts to default onto the Phone memory and not the SIM card? My SIM card limits me to apprehend sole 50 incoming messages. But when I Send texts they are saved on the Phone's memory and I hold over 200 space allowed for that. Does anyone know how to change this setting? I have a Samsung SGH-T609 cell phone.
